Bringing Out The Best In Kids
We have sponsored a new JOI Club that was started by Jose and Becky Melchor. It's called THRIVE ACADEMY. Our wonderful President, Doug Hawkins, was there to present the certificates. Welcome to all the kids in this new club and may it continue to grow and help others within our community.

Elaine Lucca had the Otay Ranch JOI Club working at the Ronald McDonald House baking cookies for the families staying there while their children are getting treatment. Way to Go KIDS!!
We are so proud and thrilled that our very
own ANN STEVENS was featured in the
San Diego Union newspaper! Ann brought
this unique idea to the Board of Directors
about 8 years ago and they were enthusiastic supporters! What started out with a few
hundred donated books being sold on tables
at Rohr Manor has truly grown! This year
we had over 13,000 gently used, donated
books to fill up the entire inside and outside
patio of the Bonita Museum and Cultural
Center in Bonita. With a great team behind
her, she truly leads the direction and vision of
this tremendous Foundation fundraiser!! She
is our QUEEN and we love every minute of
helping her with her vision!! ALL PROCEEDS
OF THE BOOK SALE GO DIRECTLY TO
THE YOUTH IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITIES.
Many of our members helped to box up Holiday Meals for some local military families. This year we gave a turkey and food items from rolls to dessert, along with a gallon of milk. An added treat was that each box had 4 tickets to PetCo Park’s Christmas celebration. Great job Tim and Luz for organizing this terrific holiday tradition!!
Here are some of our Bonita Optimist Club's Past-Presidents. They are getting ready to cook and serve our annual Free Past President's New Years Day breakfast to our members and their guests. They served eggs, pancakes, sausage, oatmeal, coffee and juices..What a fantastic and delicious way to start the new year!!
Dr Angie Hawkins is seen here installing our
new President, Art Muniz on Jan 24. He agreed to take over this position due to illness of our previous President, Doug Hawkins. Best of luck and thank you so much Art!! Thank you also to all the hard work and commitment that Doug has always given over many, many years to our Bonita Optimist Club!! Get better and stronger each day!!
Our annual Valentine's Day dinner was another huge success! Our entertainment, decorations and food was all fantastic. Thank you to all who helped make it wonderful!!
