Photos from Optimist year October 2016-September 2018 (most recent are
at the bottom)

Immediate Past President Tim Jeffries
and new President Debbie Munoz share
a fun time at our Installation Dinner.
Thanks Tim and we look forward to the
new year with Debbie!

Ann and customer are checking out all
the books we had to sell at our  semi-annual
Book Sale. We have thousands of gently
used books for sale at wonderful prices.
All proceeds go directly to the youth in our
local area.

Installing a new member is always
one of our most exciting parts of
being a President.  Ric will be a great a
asset with his photography and IT skills
and an optimistic attitude!

We celebrated the beginning of 2017 with
our Past-Presidents' Free breakfast.
There were 18 past- presidents cooking,
serving and cleaning up as they
sponsored this fun New Years Day event!

Here is an example of our great evening
meetings. Our guest speaker was
wonderful and entertaining as always!
Joining our President, Debbie, are long
time member Dave Krough and our speaker,
Ann Wysong.

What wonderful students were awarded
a Scholastic Award at our annual event
at Valley Vista Elementary School this
year! There were 17 students that
earned this special award for helping
others in their communities.

We are donating money to two terrific groups
and organizations.  Here we donated to
Ronny Perry for Challenge Air and to
Bill Meyers for the S.U.C.C.E.S.S Club as they
both help children with disabilities and cancer
respectively.

Our wonderful member, Ruth, runs her own
restaurant, The Huttle, and non-profit food bank
and delivery service for the very sick in her
area. Here we help her with a nice donation
for Special Delivery. She even feeds their
pets so all food will be eaten by her clients.

Gloria James shared with us how it was to
live through Hurricane Katrina.  She also told
us how much it has improved and also stayed
the same in 2017. What a fun and interesting
topic to hear.

We had our second Book Sale on April 29-30.
Ann Stevens, Jim Alkire and Al Zimmer again
worked tirelessly on organizing this
fantastic fundraiser to help the kids in our
neighborhood. We had over 12,000 books for
sale this year.

At our Installation dinner, many of our
members were honored for all their
contributions to the club and youth in our
community.

Our guest speaker was from Boys-To-Men
Mentoring Program for at risk Middle School
Boys. Here us another company helping the
youth in our area.

Captain Mike Neal from Fire station #6, from
Chula Vista, shared how they help
us in the Bonita and Chula Vista areas. We are so
proud to acknowledge all of their support for all
of our families in this community.

Our annual Valentine's Day dinner was so
wonderful and delicious as always. Everyone
enjoyed playing The Newlywed Game....well 40+
years of marriage was closer to it.

Our club was again involved with Challenge Air
which is a national organization who let's
disabled children experience flying.  Each child
got special training and then got to actually fly
a small plane from Brown Field.  It is a truly a
wonderful day of fun, games, food and many
smiles from the kids and their families!

Our annual Student Appreciation event was
again a terrific night.  Children from 17
elementary and private schools were honored
for the great caring and optimistic way they
treat life, each other and their communities. It
is always so nice to see the family and staff
support for these great students!
